NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit !

A Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), also known as an Intensive Care Nursery (ICN) is an intensive care unit specializing in the care of ill or premature newborn infants.

Phoenix Hospital has 8 bedded NICU which is typically directed by pediatric surgeons and neonatologists and it is also staffed by highly trained nurses, resident physicians, respiratory therapists, and dietitians. We have many other ancillary disciplines and specialists which are continuously available at larger units in our Phoenix NICU.

Phoenix Hospital has Neonatal nurse practitioners who are advanced practice nurses that care for premature babies and sick newborns in intensive care units, emergency rooms, delivery rooms and special clinics and they all are immediately transferred to the NICU for the Pediatric Care.

Phoenix NICU concentrates on treating very small, premature, infants or congenitally ill babies. Some of these babies are from higher-order multiple births but most are still single babies born too early. Premature labour and how to prevent it, remains a perplexing problem for doctors. Prematurity is a risk factor that follows early labour, a planned caesarean section or pre-eclampsia (Pre-eclampsia is a condition in pregnancy regarding high blood pressure).

Phoenix Hospital has Subspecialties of pediatric surgery (NICU Part) which itself include: Neonatal Surgery and Fetal Surgery, Pediatric Gastro-Intenstinal Surgery, Pediatric Urology, Pediatric Plastic Surgery, Pediatric Neuro-Surgery, etc. We provide a wide range of child care services mainly to highlight Pediatric Laproscopic Surgery in Children which is established and having expertise at very less centers in North India. Phoenix Hospital in Allahabad is one of those centers where this Laparoscopic Surgery is being done successfully. An around, we have done more than 10000 Surgery under the Pediatric Surgery Department and is taken care by NICU and PICU.
